Plot Summary of Hindi Film Upkar (1967)

Upkar (1967) is a Musical Patriotic Drama Movie released on 6 January, 1967 (India). The movie was produced by R. N. Goswami and Harkishen R Mirchandani. Lead Actor of this Movie Manoj himself directed the movie and written the movie also. Upkar (1967) became a Box Office Blockbuster by earning Rs. 7 Crores approximately (Worldwide) and also became the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1967 followed by Ram Aur Shyam, Farz, Hamraaz and Shagird.

Upkar (1967) won 7 Filmfare Awards in the 15th Filmfare Awards (1968) our of which 4 Awards won by  Manoj Kumar including Best Movie, Best Director, Best Story and Best Dialogue. Pran won Filmfare Best Supporting Actor by doing his first positive role. Gulshan Bawra won Filmfare Best Lyricist Award for the song Mere Desh Ki Dhari.

Upkar (1967) has some unforgettable songs like Mere Desh Ki Dharti sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Har Khushi Ho Wahan sung by Lata Mangeshkar, both written by Gulshan Bawara; Deewano Se Ye Mat Poochho sung by Mukesh and written by Qamar Jalalabadi; Kasme Waade Pyar sung by Manna Dey written by Indeevar and Aayi Jhoom Ke Basant sung by Mahendra Kapoor, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle and written by Prem Dhawan.

Upkar (1967) Movie Plot: Bharat (Manoj Kumar) works as a farmer and spends his everything for his Brother Puran (Prem Chopra) who studies abroad. Puran returns India with selfish motive and wants his share in the property. In the meantime Indo Pak war (1965) begins and Bharat becomes a part of it. After Bharat leaves Puran along with his greedy uncle Charandas (Madan Puri) starts illegal activities. 

Bharat returns from Indo–Pak war and sees his Brother’s evil act. However, he forgives him when police comes to arrest Puran.  But things do not end here. Puran has lot of venom inside him and not even thinks for harming would be bride Kavita (Asha Parekh), a doctor who promotes family planning.
