Guide (1965) is a Romantic Bollywood Drama Movie released on 6 December, 1965 (India). The movie was produced by the lead actor Dev Anand and directed by Vijay Anand who also wrote screenplay of the movie. Guide (1965) is based on a Novel ‘The Guide’ written by R.K. Narayan in the year 1958. The movie became superhit on Box Office by earning Rs. 3.5 Cror and also became the 5th Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1965 after Waqt, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Himalay Ki God Mein and Arzoo.
Guide (1965) won Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film in the 13th National Film Awards. The movie also won Best Director, Best Actor-Dev Anand, Best Actress-Waheed Rehman, Best Dialogue-Vijay Anand, Best Cinematographer-Fali mistry, Best Story-R.K. Narayan in the 14th Filmfare Awards. Lata Mangeshkar and S.D. Burman were also nominated for Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer and Best Music Director Award, respectively.
Guide (1965) has mesmerizing and unforgettable songs composed by S.D. Burman and written by Shaildendra. Songs like Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai, Piya Tose Naina Laage Re and Saiyaan Beimaan sung by Lata Mangeskar; Din Dhal Jaaye, Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya and Tere Mere Sapne sung by Mohammed Rafi. Others songs like Gaata Reh Mera Dil sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, Wahan Kaun Hai Tera and Allah Megh De sung by S.D. Burman are also very popular even till today.
Guide (1965) Movie Plot: Archaeologist Macro (Kishre Sahu) comes in the City with his young wife Rosie (Waheeda Rehman) and hires Raju (Dev Anand) as tourist guide. Marital relationship between Macro and Rosie are not in a good shape it became worse when Rosie comes to know about an illegal affair of Macro. She tries to commit suicide but Raju saves her and brings her in his home even against the wish of his Mother and Brother who later left him. Raju helps Rosie to become a famous Dancer and Singer.
Soon Macro tries to enter in the life of Rosie but Raju does not wants him back so he makes a forge signature of Rosie to release some jewelry. In the meantime Rosie’s attitude towards Raju changes gradually that hurts him badly. Moreover, he is arrested and for the forge signature.
After releasing from Jail he is misunderstood by a village people and started worshipping him like God. Raju becomes very famous. Soon villagers’ faces draught and they believe that if Raju (now Swami Jee) remains hungry for a few days rain would fall.
