Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) Movie Plot: Raju (Rajesh Khanna) is an orphan whose life was saved by an Elephant is now live with Four Elephants who are just like his friends. He loves them more than his own life. After some hard work Raju manages to open a Private Zoo where all kind of wild animals are kept with love and treated like friends.
Raju meets a young and beautiful rich girl Tanu (Tanuja) and some initial quarrel they fall in love and get married. But Raju’s love towards animals soon comes between their relationship and the same starts to be spoiled.
Soon they are blessed with a son and since then Tanu becomes more protective from the animals as she thinks they can harm her child and when she misunderstands elephants love towards the child as threat Raju is given the option either to live with animals or with her and Raju decides to live with his animal friends. Tanu leaves Raju’s house and starts living with her father. When the Elephant(s) learn about Raju’s sadness they come up with a plan to reunite and reaches Tanu to bring her back. But unfortunately Tanu gets afraid of the Elephant and her father asks his friend to shoot the Elephant.
