Maryada (1971) got commercial success and became Superhit on Box Office by earning Rs. 4.5 Crores and also became the Fourth Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1971 after Haathi Mere Saathi, Mera Gaon Mera Desh and Dushman followed by Andaz, Caravan, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Amar Prem, Sharmilee and Mela.
Maryada (1971) stars Rajesh Khanna, Raaj Kumar and Mala Sinha in lead roles. Pran, Bipin Gupta, Rajendra Nath, Asit Kumar Sen, Jankidar, Helen and Abhi Bhattacharya played supporting roles in the movie. Maryada is considered among the 17 consecutive hits of Rajesh Khanna by adding two Two-Hero Movies Maryada (1971) and Andaz (1971) to the 15 consecutive solo hits between the years 1969 to 1971.
Kalyanji-Anandji composed music for Maaryada (1971) and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. Together they created some melodious songs like Dhol Sajna, Chupke Se Dil De De, Zuban Pe Dard Bhari, Gussa Itna Haseen Hai To and Mohabbat Ke Suhane Din.
Maryada (1971) Movie Plot: Lalita (Mala Sinha) meets with a handsome Youngman Raja Babu (Raaj Kumar) and soon they fall in love with each other. But their alliance is denied by mother of Lalita (Dulari) who knows that Raja Babu is already married and has a son also.
Lalita wants to clarify things from Raja Babu who discloses that his real name is Rajan Ram Bahadur. The question for his marriage and son is smartly put off by him leaving Lalita in dilemma.
Situation takes a U Turn when Pran Bahadur (Pran), step brother of Raja Babu returns to the town and finds that Rajan Ram Bahadur has taken over identity of his brother Raja Babu (Rajesh Khana) and must have done something wrong with the original Raja Babu. What they all don’t know is that their lives are going to be hell soon.
