Prem Nagar - Hindi Film 1974

Prem Nagar (1974) is a Bollywood Romantic Drama Movie released on 24 May, 1974 (India). The movie was produced by D. Rama Naidu and directed by K.S. Prakash Rao. Prem Nagar is a remake of Telugu Movie Prema Nagar (1971) produced by the same produceder director team. 

Prem Nagar (1974) proved superhit on Box Office by earning Rs. 4.5 Crores approximately (Worldwide) and also became the 4th Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1974 after Roti Kapda Aur Makaan,  Chor Machaye Shor and Dost followed by Bidaai. 

Prem Nagar (1974) stars Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini in lead roles who were nominated for Filmfare Best Actor and Actress Award, respectively. Prem Chopra, Asrani, Aruna Irani, Nazir Hussain, Ramesh Deo, Nana Palishkar, Bindu and Kamini Kaushal played supporting roles in the movie.

S.D. Burman composed music for the movie Prem Nagar (1974) and lyrics were authored by Anand Bakshi. Song Ye Lal Rang Kab Mujhe Chhodega sung by Kishore Kumar becomes very popular at that time.  S.D. Burman was also nominated for the Filmare Best Music Director Award in the 22nd  Filmfare Award Function.

Prem Nagar (1974) Movie Plot

Rani Maa, belongs to a royal family and lives with his two sons Shamsher (Prem Chora) and Karan (Rajesh Khanna). Shamsher is married and having a daughter also. 

Karan is looked after by his nanny (Aruna Irani) since his childhood and that is why he treats him like her real Mother. However, in the absence of care from a real mother he becomes alcoholic and womanizer. 

Karan meets with Lata (Hema Malini) who earlier used to work as air hostess but leaves the same when her boss try to molest her. She is rescued by Karan who later appoints Lata as his personal secretary. 

Lata tries to amend the ways of Karan and finally gets succeeded. Karan falls in love with Lata but their happiness remain very short when Lata is framed for stealing valuable ornament from the palace and consequently humiliated and thrown from the house.
