Ankhen (1968) is a Indian Bollywood Spy Thriller Comedy Movie released on 5 January, 1968 (India). The movie was produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar who also wrote Story and Screenplay of the movie. After the success of Farz (1967), which is considered as first Spy Thriller of Bollywood, Ramanand Sagar made Ankhen with is considered first pure Spy Thriller of Bollywood for which he received Filmfare Best Director Award. Ankhen (1968) becomes superhit on Box Office by earning Rs. 6.5 Crores and also became the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie for the year 1968 followed by Do Kaliyaan, Neel Kamal, Kanyadaan and Shikar.
Ankhen stars Dharmendra, Mala Sinha, Mehmood, Lalita Pawar, Madan Puri, Nazir Hussain and Jeevan. Music for Ankhen (1968) was composed by Ravi and lyrics were authored by Sahir Ludhiyanvi. Together they create memorable songs like Milti Hai Zindgi Mein, Gairon Pe Karam and Meri Sun Le Araj sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Tujh Ko Rakkhe Raam sung by Manna Dey and Asha Bhosle, Lut Ja by Asha Boshle, Kamal Barot and Usha Mangeshkar, Us Mulk Ki Sarhad Ko sung by Mohammed Rafi.
After Phool Aur Patthar (1966) it was Dharmendra’s second film in which he did not get even a single lip sing song. Dhamrendra is the only actor who did not get any lip sing song in the movie twice inspite being the lead actor.
Ankhen (1968) Movie Plot: After Independence an Indian secret Agent in Beirut was propelled and killed by the terrorists. Sunil Mehra (Dharmendra) is assigned to take over his charge by his father-cum-Major Deewan Chand (Nazir Hussain). In Beeirut Sunil meets Meenakshi (Mala Sinha) admires him since long. But soon Sunil’s identity is revealed to the terrorists Doctor X (Jeevan) and Captain (Madan Puri). They placed a fake care taker Madam (Lalita Pawar) in the house of Major Deewan Chand and abducts Babloo (Master Ratan) son of Sunanda (Kumkum), the daughter of Deewan.
With the help of Sunanand, Madam transforms secret information to Beirut and soon Deewan hears that Sunil is dead. Mehmood (Mehmood), another agent comes to know that Sunil is alive and tries to locate him with the help of latest scientific instruments.
