Dushman (1971) is an Indian Bollywood Drama Movie released on 7 January, 1971 (India). The movie was produced by Premji and directed by Dulal Guha. The movie was written by Virendra Sinha. Dushman (1971) was remade in Tamil as Needhi (1972), in Telugu as Khaidii Babay (1974), in Malyalam as Maattoly (1978) and in Kannada as Hosa Teerpu (1983).
Dushman (1971) got commercial success and became Superhit on Box Office by earning Rs. 5.5 Crores and also became the Third Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1971 after Haathi Mere Saathi and Mera Gaon Mera Desh followed by Maryada, Andaz, Caravan, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Amar Prem, Sharmilee and Mela.
Dushman (1971) stars Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz in lead roles. Meena Kumar, Abhi Bhattacharya, Asit Kumar Sen, Rehman, Anwar Hussain, Sajjan and Kanhaiyalal played supporting roles in the movie. Dushman is considered among the 17 consecutive hits of Rajesh Khanna between the years 1969 to 1971.
Laxmikant-Pyarelal composed music for Dushman (1971) and lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. Together they created some melodious songs like Balma Sipahiya, maine Dekha Tune Dekha, Vaada Tera Vaada and Paisa Fenko Tamasha Dekho.
Dushman (1971) Movie Plot: Surjeet (Rajesh Khanna) a Truck driver who often drinks and drives. Once during such a rash driving him accidently kills a farmer Ram Din and lefts her wife Malti (Meena Kumari), cripple father Ganga Din (Nana Palishkar), blind mother (Leela Mishra) sister Kamla (Naaz) and two young sons devastated and hungry.
Surjeet is arrested and produced before the court. The Hon’ble Judget (Rehman) believes that merely giving punishment to Surjeet would not help the underprivileged family and he orders Surjeet to stay with them in the village and servers them as his punishment.
Surjeet is imprisoned in the village and is called Dushman (enemy) by the family of deceased Ram Din. Surjeet stars working in farms and start fulfilling the day to day needs of the family but is still hated by the family even after saving Kamla from the evil hands of Timber Merchant (Anwar Hussain).
Situation turns worse when the Timber Merchant abducts Phoolmati (Mumtaz), love interest of Surjeet, to teach him a lesson. Malti rescues Mumtaz but traps in the hands of Timber Merchant and no one there to save her as such Surjeet is charged with a murder and arrested by Police.
