Safar (1970) is an Indian Bollywood Musical Drama Movie released on 31 July, 1970 (India). The movie was produced by Mushir-Riaz and directed by Asit Sen who remade his own directorial Chalachal (1956) as Safar and won Filmfare Best Director Award for the same. Asit Sen also wrote Screenplay of the movie and won whereas story was written by Ashuthosh Mukherjee.
Safar (1970) became a commercial hit on Box Office by earning Rs. 3 Crores and also became one of the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie for the year 1970 alongwith Johny Mera Naam, Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, Purab Aur Paschim, Jeevan Mrityu, Khilona, Sharafat and Humjoli.
Safar (1970) stars Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in lead role who was nominated for Filmfare Best Female Actress Award but the same was won by Mumtaz for the movie Khilona. However, Sharmila won the same award previous year for Aradhana (1969). Ashok Kumar, Feroz Khan, Aruna Irani and I.S. Johar also played key roles in the movie. Safar is considered among the 17 consecutive hits of Rajesh Khanna between the years 1969 to 1971.
Kalyanji-Anandji composed all five songs for Safar (1970) which became very popular. Zindgi Ka Safar and Jeevan Se Bhari Teri Aankhen sung by Kishore Kumar, Ham Thai Jin Ke Sahaare sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Nadiya Chale Chale Re Dhara sung by Manna Dey and Jo Tum Ko Ho Pasand sung by Mukesh. Lyrics for these songs were penned by Indeevar.
Sachaa Jhuta (1970) Movie Plot: Neela (Sharmila Tagore) likes Avinash (Rajesh Khanna) a underprivileged man who works alongwith his studies and never reciprocates to the liking of Neela as he is a cancer patient.
Shekhar (Feroz Khan) comes into the life of Neela and proposes her. Since Neela never gets any response from Avinash she starts spending time with Shekhar who soon becomes suspicious of her relationship with Avinash and commits suicide in frustration. Situation turns worst when Neela and Avinash are the primary suspect for killing of Shekhar and Avinash disappears leaving Neela alone who is arrested by the police.
