About 13th Filmfare Awards 1966

Filmfare Awards are given to acknowledge and honor the best talent in Hindi Cinema in various categories.  13th Filmfare Awards held in Mumbai for the 13th consecutive year since 1954.

The First Filmfare Awards announced on 21 March 1954. Since then these awards have been given on almost every year. However, only five Awards were given in the 1st Filmfare Awards under five categories i.e. Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Music.

The glamorous 13th Filmfare Awards held on 7 May 1966 in Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1964.

13th Filmfare Awards 1966-Highlights

  • Raaj Kumar was nominated under Best Actor category for Kaajal. He was also nomnated under the Best Supporting Actor cateogry for the same movie and for Waqt as well. However, he won Best Supporting Actor for Waqt.

  • Himalaya Ki God Mein received Seven nominations in the 13th Filmfare Awards. However, it won only two in the category of Best Film and Best Editor.

  • Waqt received Seven nominations and won Five and became the highest gainer in the 13th Filmfare Awards.

  • Both Himalaya Ki God Mein and Waqt received the highest number of nominations (Seven each) in the 13th Filmfare Awards 1966.

  • Haqeeqat received Three nominations and won one for Best Art Direction (B&W).

  • Arzoo received Five nominations but could not win even a single award.

  • Khandan received Four nominations and won all of them.

  • Yaadein received Two nominations and won both of them.

  • Kaajal received Six nominations and won Two out of it.
